Greetings from Warsaw! It’s March 19th, and we are pushing forward with the Pearl Electric Motors (PEM) project. Today, I want to briefly share our current status. We are at one of the most crucial stages in creating our Micro EVs — transitioning from an engineering prototype to a production-ready vehicle prepared for European certification.
Fine-Tuning the Fast Charging System
The core of our concept is Type 2 fast charging. Unlike battery-swapping systems or traditional wall-socket charging that takes 4+ hours, our approach allows riders to plug in almost anywhere. The EU has a massive network of available Type 2 public charging stations, meaning you no longer need to strictly plan your time around charging.
Our Micro EV lineup is divided into two classes: L1 (top speed up to 45 km/h) and L3 (up to 80 km/h). Right now, we are actively tuning and testing the integration of our 6.6 kW on-board charger (OBC) and the battery management system. The main goal today is to achieve perfect cell balancing, software stability, and absolute safety when handling high currents.
Path to Homologation
Our second major focus is preparing for homologation. For our vehicles to legally hit EU roads, they must go through a rigorous certification process. We are currently bringing all hardware components, electronics, and safety protocols into full compliance with European standards. It’s meticulous engineering and paperwork, but it’s exactly what turns a bold startup into a real, market-ready product.
The work is in full swing. I’ll be sharing the results of our first field tests with the charging system very soon. Stay tuned!
